Environmental Science Camp at Pawtuckaway State Park
The Team: Teachers: Dan Courtney, James Cobern, and Amber Zachos
The Facility: Pawtuckaway State Park, we will be at Site B in the Youth Camping Area.
Students will investigate the water quality of Pawtuckaway Lake by measuring water quality parameters; temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, a macro invertebrate survey and water clarity. They will take samples at various locations, record and analyze data. Students will investigate air quality by conducting a survey of lichen populations at various sites in the forest areas of the camp.
This program is being offered for credit. This program is for incoming grades 9-12
This program runs Monday - Friday, July 8-12 as an overnight camp, with presentations being put together the following week in the PMHS computer lab. We will meet in the PMHS lobby for 12:00 on Monday and take a bus to Pawtuckaway. The bus will be picking us up from Pawtuckaway for Friday at 11:00, returning to PMHS for 12:00 on Friday. The presentations will be during the evening of July 19th 5:00pm with the other Summer Academies.
